<p>The script has been uploaded to The Scripting Guys repository now <br />and can be found <a href="http://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/ScriptCenter/en-us/8ad12105-678a-4bf3-8057-a7cd6f9e88c0" target="_blank">here</a>.</p>
<p>This will save me a lot of time looking for the files and then install them. <br />So in ~5 min I have them installed on a clean computer.</p>

<!-- Start Shareaholic LikeButtonSetTop Automatic --><!-- End Shareaholic LikeButtonSetTop Automatic --><p>This short blog post will be a first view of <br />PowerGUI and the AD PowerPack. </p>
<p>Now with the Active Directory PowerPack <br />we have a new group in PowerGUI.</p>
<p><a href="http://poweradmin.se/blog/wp-content/uploads/image210.png"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="image" border="0" alt="image" src="http://poweradmin.se/blog/wp-content/uploads/image_thumb144.png" width="160" height="297" /></a></p>
<p>In my case, my computer belongs <br />to my lab Active Directory. But my logged in user <br />don&#8217;t.&#160; So when I try to click on Users I will get some errors.</p>
<p><a href="http://poweradmin.se/blog/wp-content/uploads/image211.png"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="image" border="0" alt="image" src="http://poweradmin.se/blog/wp-content/uploads/image_thumb145.png" width="304" height="164" /></a>     </p>
<p>To fix this I only need to start PowerGUI with <br />a different user.</p>
<p><a href="http://poweradmin.se/blog/wp-content/uploads/image212.png"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="image" border="0" alt="image" src="http://poweradmin.se/blog/wp-content/uploads/image_thumb146.png" width="200" height="125" /></a> </p>
</p>
<p><a href="http://poweradmin.se/blog/wp-content/uploads/image213.png"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="image" border="0" alt="image" src="http://poweradmin.se/blog/wp-content/uploads/image_thumb147.png" width="305" height="165" /></a> </p>
</p>
<p>The Power of the PowerGUI as I see it is the nice GUI and <br />the easy way to see how Its done. Because Its PowerShell <br />behind this and Its so easy to see it.</p>
<p>Right-click on Users and then Properties. <br />Now you can see the code behind.</p>
<p><a href="http://poweradmin.se/blog/wp-content/uploads/image214.png"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="image" border="0" alt="image" src="http://poweradmin.se/blog/wp-content/uploads/image_thumb148.png" width="309" height="167" /></a>&#160; </p>
<p>This will give you some information on how to use <br />this in your own scripts. </p>
<p>But be ware of that PowerGUI does something that <br />you don&#8217;t see in this code.</p>
<p>You need to load the snap-in for Quest AD cmdlets.</p>

<!-- Start Shareaholic LikeButtonSetTop Automatic --><!-- End Shareaholic LikeButtonSetTop Automatic --><p>Hi,</p>
<p>my latest project or my latest lab is to install <br />two PowerPacks with the latest release <br />of PowerGUI (1.9.5).</p>
<p><a href="http://poweradmin.se/blog/wp-content/uploads/image207.png"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="image" border="0" alt="image" src="http://poweradmin.se/blog/wp-content/uploads/image_thumb141.png" width="303" height="233" /></a></p>
<p>These good PowerPacks are not new, but I’m   <br />old fashion and I haven’t tried them before <img src='http://poweradmin.se/blog/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>To be able to install these two PowerPacks we needed to <br />install two things.</p>
<ol>
<li><strong>Active Directory</strong> <br />To be able to use the Active Directory PowerPack <br />we need Quests Active Directory cmdlets. </p>
<p>And we will find them in the Quest <br />ActiveRoles Management Shell. You will find it <a href="http://www.quest.com/powershell/activeroles-server.aspx" target="_blank">here</a>. </p>
<p><a href="http://poweradmin.se/blog/wp-content/uploads/image208.png"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="image" border="0" alt="image" src="http://poweradmin.se/blog/wp-content/uploads/image_thumb142.png" width="244" height="188" /></a>&#160; </p>
<p>The next step is very good, but will not      <br />work for me in my lab environment.      <br /><a href="http://poweradmin.se/blog/wp-content/uploads/image209.png"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="image" border="0" alt="image" src="http://poweradmin.se/blog/wp-content/uploads/image_thumb143.png" width="244" height="188" /></a>       </li>
<li><strong>Exchange 2007 <br /></strong>To be able to use the Exchange 2007 PowerPack <br />we need to do this on a Exchange 2007 machine or <br />install the Exchange 2007 Management Console.
<p>The 64-bit version can be found on the      <br />Exchange 2007 disk.       </p>
<p>The 32-bit version can be found <a href="http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&amp;FamilyID=6be38633-7248-4532-929b-76e9c677e802" target="_blank">here</a>.      </p>
<p>More information about the Exchange Management Shell      <br />can be found <a href="http://technet.microsoft.com/sv-se/library/bb124413(en-us).aspx" target="_blank">here</a>.</li>
</ol>
</p>
<p>&#160;</p>
<p>So now we have installed 4 new friends <img src='http://poweradmin.se/blog/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>&#160;</p>

<!-- Start Shareaholic LikeButtonSetTop Automatic --><!-- End Shareaholic LikeButtonSetTop Automatic --><p>I had this version but didn’t get the new PowerGUI 1.9 <br />with the “Check for Update” .</p>
<p><a href="http://poweradmin.se/blog/wp-content/uploads/image135.png"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="image" border="0" alt="image" src="http://poweradmin.se/blog/wp-content/uploads/image_thumb70.png" width="293" height="220" /></a> </p>
<p>So It’s time for an update check at <a href="http://powergui.org">http://powergui.org</a></p>
<p>&#160;</p>
<p>On the same page as the download for PowerGUI they have links <br />to PowerShell and then I only can think that It’s sad <br />that Microsoft did not release the PowerShell 2.0 RTM <br />for Windows XP and Vista at the same time as Windows 7.</p>
<p>I have been testing 2.0 for a long time on one of my desktops, but I <br />will continue to make my scripts for PowerShell 1.0 until the RTM release.</p>
<p>&#160;</p>
<p>Another thought is that the Power Pack for AD in the installation of <br />PowerGUI need an 3rd party tool. Okay, the tool is nice, but I love <br />to script with none 3rd party tools.</p>
<p><a href="http://poweradmin.se/blog/wp-content/uploads/image136.png"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="image" border="0" alt="image" src="http://poweradmin.se/blog/wp-content/uploads/image_thumb71.png" width="300" height="230" /></a> </p>
<p>I did write this blog post when installing the new version <img src='http://poweradmin.se/blog/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>&#160;</p>
